Welcome Address

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure to extend to you, on behalf of the Organizers, the invitation to participate in the International Workshop on Recent Trends in Signal Processing. This invitation is addressed to our friends and colleagues that contributed to the previous events in Signals, Circuits and Systems and those who did not yet participate.

As the technology progresses and convergence pushes us towards the “Information Society”, the issue of signal and image processing is of increasing importance. There has been noticed a need to provide a forum for our engineering community where to present and discuss current progresses and future developments in key areas of signal processing.

The technical program of the International Workshop on Recent Trends in Signal Processing will address main problems and lectures will be given by leading experts in the field. The goal was to build a broad and comprehensive program that could match the interests and needs of different participants from industry and academia. Another focus of the workshop is to report on the state-of-the-art theory, technology and applications of signal processing as used in scientific research and communications. The ultimate aim of the workshop is the involvement of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN) in significant technical and scientific initiatives related to signal processing world. In particular, efforts will be devoted to linking TUCN activities to the local industry and communications companies.

Certainly this major event could not be possible without the personal involvement of our great friend and outstanding academician Prof. Sanjit K. Mitra. We express our gratitude for his support, guidance and active participation in making this workshop better. We wish him prosperity and new achievements in science and technology.

The workshop will be held in Cluj-Napoca, the charming city that will fascinate you with the mystery of its history and will capture your heart with the beauty of the river Somes, surrounding lakes and Western Carpathian Mountains. Cluj-Napoca has regular and frequent road, rail and air links to international destinations.

Welcome to Cluj-Napoca!
